Dr. Athens graduated from Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa in December, 1982. He runs a high volume practice in San Carlos, California and is best known for his pre-game adjustment of San Francisco 49er quarterback, Joe Montana, in 1990. This gave our profession 1.5 million dollars of free advertising.
He was awarded the ICA's first Sports Chiropractor of the Year award in 1990. He then went on to become the team chiropractor to the San Francisco Giants Baseball Team and was the individual who introduced Barry Bonds to regular chiropractic care.
Other athletes that Dr. Athens works on when they come to the bay ares are: New York Mets slugger Mike Piazza, St Louis Cardinals Slugger, Mark McGuire, and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher, Kevin Brown. The Athens Chiropractic Clinic is also the choice of care for New England quarterback, Tom Brady, whose family also utilizes chiropractic care.
Besides bodybuilding and running 6 miles, 3 times per week, Dr. Athens is also the father of 2 sets of boy/girl twins.
He has done numerous TV appearances for the benefits of chiropractic, utilizing top athletes as endorsements.
