Dr. Affolter is a second-generation chiropractor. He completed the pre-med curriculum at the University of Kansas with a B.A. in chemistry. After that, he stayed at KU, received his M.B.A. and went on to work for IBM for three years before attending Palmer College. He is on the philosophy faculty of ChiroCredit.com, sponsored by the University of Bridgeport. In 2005 and 2006 he presented papers at both IRAPS and both Conferences on Philosophical Chiropractic Standards.

For many years chiropractors around the globe have received his weekly email, Affolter's Chiropractic Comments. In 2009 he began a weekly radio show titled Intelligence Based Living. The show is available around the world via Internet.
The title of his talk is "You Cannot Be Intelligent and Believe in Evolution."
